2 hrs. outdoor program by foot
Departure Monday - Saturday at 14:00
Survival in the wilderness has always been an important part of the Lappish way of life. Now you have a chance to get a glimpse of some of the skills needed to survive the harsh but beautiful Lappish nature.
During this tour into the snow covered forest we will take a look at nature with the eyes of an arctic survivor: how do we keep ourselves warm, how do we makea shelter and how to we predict the weather and winds. Remember also to enjoy the small miracles of nature, like hanging moss on the trees, snowdrifts creating fairy tale figures and maybe even some birds or trails of arctic animals.
As we enjoy hot beverages by the fire, you can take the opportunity to try some snowshoeing and to ask your guide about the nature and the winter in Lapland.
- return transfers from your accommodation in Ounasvaara or Santa Claus Village and a pick-up point in city center Rovaniemi
- winter clothing
- guided excursion according to program description and given information
What we say about this tour:
“Sometimes you need to get away from the hustle and bustle and then nature, the forest is my remedy. Breathing fresh air, listening to the silence and letting your gaze wander over the hills – and you will feel refreshed and ready to tackle the world again! We recommend this for friends and couples, who enjoy a bit of exercise and the great outdoors.”
All daily departures are available throughout the winter season, 1.12.2019 – 31.3.2020, or due to prevailing weather and snow conditions. Daily Departures are operated for min 2 persons paying the adult fare (2 persons / snowmobile). Private excursions are available for min 8 persons (adult fare 2 persons / snowmobile).
Our snowmobiles are locally produced, BRP Lynx Rave, Xtrim and Boondocker–models. We have selected this model, as they are extremely comfortable to drive and as they are gentle to the environment, they are practically smoke and smell free.
Children travel in a sledge pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. In case a child prefers to travel as a passenger of a snowmobile, he / she must be tall enough to reach the handles and treads and strong enough to hold on tight. When a child travels on the snowmobile and not in a sledge pulled by a snowmobile, adult price (2 person / snowmobile) applies.
The snowmobiles and you as the snowmobile driver or passenger are covered by our insurance. The self-liability on damage of snowmobiles is max. 1 000 € / snowmobile. With a self-liability waiver (19 €) you reduce the self-liability to max 299 € / snowmobile. Every safari starts with instructions on driving and safety.
You will always be kitted with proper winter gear: thermal overall, boots, woollen socks, balaclavas and gloves or mittens for our safaris and excursions. Your own jacket and shoes remain at the safari house during the tour.
